The Toshiba e-STUDIO 400AC is an earlier 40ppm A4 colour printer, photocopier and scanner, replaced by the e-STUDIO 401AC. Camelott® handles 400AC rental, servicing and repair enquiries across the UK. Its 550-sheet drawer, separate 100-sheet bypass and standard single-pass feeder can still suit a shared A4 office, provided condition, compatibility and the support arrangement remain appropriate. *Duplex scan ratings are up to 80ipm colour or 116ipm mono at 300dpi. The image illustrates the 330AC/400AC desktop range; it does not show optional extra drawers. We confirm rental stock, parts, coverage and terms for each enquiry.

Support a Shared A4 Workhorse or Plan Its Replacement

The 400AC’s useful distinction is 40ppm A4 output without moving to an A3 chassis. If several people share recurring reports, forms or colour correspondence, the engine can clear batches sooner than the 33ppm model in the same older family. A theoretical 200-page run takes five minutes instead of about 6 minutes 4 seconds, before processing, first-page time and paper-path restrictions.

For an existing machine, the decision is whether its condition and support still suit that work. A recurring feed fault, poor copy quality or a connection problem needs a clear diagnosis; it does not automatically justify replacing the whole copier. Tell us the meter reading, service history and whether the fault affects printing, copying, scanning or a particular tray.

The replacement 401AC keeps the same 40ppm rating. Its secure SSD, embedded OCR and current security platform are more relevant reasons to compare it than an imagined print-speed increase. If A3, automatic booklet making or punching has become part of your work, discuss a suitable finishing platform rather than another A4 model.

The newer replacement

400AC to 401AC: What Changes in Practice?

The Toshiba e-STUDIO 401AC replaces the 400AC. Some important capabilities remain the same; the useful differences include storage technology and embedded OCR.

SSD speed

Less waiting for stored information

An SSD accesses data electronically rather than moving a head over spinning discs. It can help storage-dependent tasks, such as retrieving saved documents and handling job data. The improvement varies by task; it does not change the 40ppm engine rating.

Storage reliability

Remove mechanical drive failure points

The SSD has no spinning platters, drive motor or moving read head. This removes those particular wear and mechanical failure points. The SSD and the rest of the machine can still fail; no fixed reduction in breakdowns is claimed.

Confidential information

Assess the complete security setup

Secure storage helps protect documents retained inside the machine. The 400AC already has a self-encrypting HDD, so SSD technology alone does not prove stronger protection. Toshiba advertises TPM 2.0, anti-malware capabilities and OAuth support on the current 401AC series. Assess those features, firmware, authentication and secure disposal together; confirm the supplied setup.

Wear and interruptions

A new machine starts with unworn components

Compared with an ageing, heavily used machine, new rollers and feed components can reduce wear-related feeding problems. Paper, loading, maintenance and workload still affect jams and reliability. We assess the older machine before recommending replacement.

Document workflows

Search scanned records with embedded OCR

OCR recognises printed text so supported scans can be searched. On the 401AC it is embedded, while the 400AC requires an optional OCR function. It can help staff retrieve invoices and correspondence; test recognition on your own originals.

Future compatibility

Plan for changing office systems

A current model will generally have a longer remaining driver and firmware support horizon than its predecessor. This is an expectation, not a guaranteed support period. Confirm your operating systems, applications, email authentication and the manufacturer’s current policies.

A new model does not automatically make a well-maintained 400AC uneconomical to keep. Compare repair costs, condition, actual interruptions and future requirements. Neither a lower jam rate nor a fixed support period is guaranteed by the model change.

1. Document feeder & scanning

Single-Pass Scanning Is Included

The standard 100-sheet DSDF captures both sides of an original in one pass. You do not need to choose an optional larger A3 feeder to obtain this mechanism.

Document feederStandard 100-sheet DSDF
Duplex colour scanUp to 80ipm at 300dpi
Duplex mono scanUp to 116ipm at 300dpi
Maximum scan resolution600 × 600 dpi

Why this is useful

For invoices, signed forms and double-sided records, single-pass capture avoids reversing each sheet. Optional OCR can make scanned documents searchable. This can suit a business with modest printing but regular document capture; agree the file format, destination and OCR setup during installation.

What to weigh up

Single-pass feeding is also standard on other A4 machines. The 116ipm figure is monochrome, not colour, and is a count of scanned sides. Original condition, loading, OCR, processing and upload still affect the complete job. Feeder type alone does not determine reliability or the time to save the finished file.

2. Touchscreen & workflow

Make Repeated A4 Tasks Easier to Set Up

The 10.1-inch multi-touch panel uses Toshiba e-BRIDGE Next. A familiar screen can help where staff also use compatible Toshiba office devices.

Control panel10.1-inch colour multi-touch
Platforme-BRIDGE Next
OCROptional; confirm licence and format
Storage320GB self-encrypting HDD

Why this is useful

Set up named scan destinations and templates for invoice batches, staff records or shared folders. For text-searchable records, ask for the optional OCR function and test it with the documents staff actually receive.

What to weigh up

The 400AC does not include OCR as standard. Confirm current software, email authentication, driver support and network permissions before installation. Disk encryption helps protect stored data but does not replace access controls or an agreed end-of-contract data-erasure process.

3. Print engine

40ppm A4 for Repeated Shared-Office Jobs

The 400AC prints and copies A4 at up to 40ppm in colour or mono. Some overseas specifications quote 42ppm on Letter paper; that is a different paper-size test.

A4 colour / monoUp to 40ppm
First colour copyApprox. 6.3 seconds
First mono copyApprox. 5.1 seconds
Sleep recoveryApprox. 18 seconds

Why this is useful

At rated engine speed, 100 A4 pages take 2 minutes 30 seconds. Against a 33ppm engine, a theoretical 200-page run saves about 1 minute 4 seconds. This matters more when reports or document sets repeat; over ten pages the difference is only about three seconds.

What to weigh up

The 40ppm rating is not a promise for every stock or paper path. Processing, sleep state, duplex and heavier media affect the job. Faster printing does not raise the scanner’s colour or mono rating. For a fault report, tell us whether the slowdown or defect occurs on prints, copies, a specific tray or all jobs.

4. Bypass & media

Handle Occasional Stock Without Emptying the Main Drawer

The 100-sheet bypass provides a separate path for suitable smaller media, envelopes and banner work within the published limits. Hotspot 4 marks the side path, which is closed in the range photograph.

Bypass capacity100 sheets
Bypass media60–256gsm continuous; 52–59gsm single-sheet
Normal bypass sizes98 × 148mm up to A4
Supported bannersUp to 1,321mm long; 90–163gsm

Why this is useful

An occasional envelope, cover or suitable long notice can be handled without replacing the ordinary paper in the main drawer. Banner capability offers a narrow, long format for appropriate signage; it does not turn the device into an A3 printer.

What to weigh up

The 256gsm limit is lower than the 300gsm capability of some larger A3 configurations. Banner stock has its own weight range. Confirm the exact paper, envelope and size combination, settings and manual handling before relying on a specialist job.

5. Paper input

A Full-Ream Drawer Before Adding Extra Capacity

One 550-sheet main cassette and a 100-sheet bypass provide 650-sheet standard input. Optional feeding equipment increases capacity.

Standard input650 sheets including bypass
Main cassette550 sheets; A5–A4, 60–256gsm
Maximum input3,200 sheets with compatible options
Automatic duplexA5–A4, 60–256gsm

Why this is useful

A full ream can be loaded without needing to wait for the drawer to empty completely. Additional drawers can keep letterhead or another approved stock ready. The 256gsm duplex specification may be useful against A4 configurations with lower double-sided paper-weight limits.

What to weigh up

650 sheets includes the bypass; the ordinary main drawer holds 550. A maximum of 3,200 sheets needs the right accessories and supports particular sizes. Add capacity for genuine reloads or stock changes. Check the installed footprint, supported workload and output collection too.

6. Output & finishing

An Offline Stapler Is Different from Inline Finishing

The output tray collects loose sheets. Toshiba lists an optional offline stapler for this model, rather than an automatic inline booklet or hole-punch system.

Standard output250-sheet capacity
Stapling optionMJ-1047 offline stapler
Inline booklet makerNot listed for this model
Automatic hole punchNot listed for this model

Why this is useful

For occasional short reports, collecting the pages and using a separate or offline stapler may be proportionate. This avoids paying for a larger finishing platform when staff rarely assemble document sets. The pictured numbered area identifies the output side, not an installed booklet attachment.

What to weigh up

An offline stapler requires staff to handle the printed pack; it does not automatically staple each set as it leaves the printer. If repeated corner-stapled sets, folded booklets or punched binder packs are needed now or later, choose a machine with the appropriate compatible inline accessories.

Photocopier terminology, explained by Bean

Confused by Photocopier Jargon?

Bean explains the terms without the technical waffle. Here is what the specifications mean for your working day.

Bean, your friendly guide to photocopier terminology
Bean’s guide from Camelott®: understand what matters before paying for a higher specification.
PPM — Pages Per Minute
Printer PPM measures pages produced per minute once the print engine is running, under specified test conditions. The difference between 40ppm and 55ppm matters much more on a repeated long job than a five-page job, where processing and the first page account for more of the wait.
IPM — Images Per Minute
Scanner IPM normally measures scanned sides, not sheets. One double-sided sheet counts as two images. A high figure helps with large scan batches, but resolution, OCR, file processing and upload speed can still slow the complete job.
GSM — Grams Per Square Metre
GSM describes paper weight per square metre; ordinary office paper is often 80gsm. Support for heavier paper can help with covers and certificates. This model supports approved media up to 256gsm through the main cassette and automatic duplex path. Check supported sizes and media types; paper weight does not describe scan-original limits.
MFP — Multifunction Printer
One device combines printing, copying and scanning; fax may be optional. Sharing an MFP saves space, but a busy scan or copy session can create a queue, so consider how many people need it at once.
ADF — Automatic Document Feeder
An ADF feeds a stack of originals into the scanner, saving you from placing every page on the glass. Capacity matters for long batches. ADF alone does not tell you whether both sides are scanned automatically; check the feeder type.
DSDF — Dual Scan Document Feeder
A DSDF scans both sides of an original in one pass, without turning the sheet over. It is especially useful for large double-sided document packs. The 400AC includes a 100-sheet DSDF as standard. Its duplex scan ratings are up to 80ipm colour and 116ipm mono at 300dpi.
RADF — Reversing Automatic Document Feeder
A RADF scans one side and reverses the sheet to scan the other. It still handles double-sided originals automatically, and adds a reversing step; compare published rates at the same settings. It can be quite sufficient for occasional smaller batches. The 400AC uses a single-pass DSDF, rather than a reversing feeder.
DADF — Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder
DADF describes an automatic feeder that handles double-sided originals. Check whether the actual configuration scans both sides in one pass or reverses each sheet: the mechanism, scan speed and capacity matter more than the initials. A standard single-pass feeder can offer good value when it handles your normal batches without an upgrade.
Duplex — Automatic Double-sided Printing
Automatic duplex prints on both sides without manually reloading the paper. It saves paper and reduces bulky packs. It does not mean double-sided scanning, and supported paper weights can be lower than for single-sided printing.
DPI — Dots Per Inch
DPI describes resolution: how many dots are printed, or how finely a scan samples detail, per inch. Higher settings can help fine text and images, but scanning at higher resolution creates larger files and can slow the workflow. Match the setting to the task.
CPC — Cost Per Copy
CPC is the charge per copy or printed page under a service arrangement, normally with different rates for mono and colour. Ask what is included, how A3 and double-sided pages are counted, and whether minimum billing applies. Compare the rates against your actual usage.
FCOT — First Copy Out Time
FCOT is the time to produce the first copy under the manufacturer’s test conditions. It is not PC-to-first-printed-page time: a PC print job can also involve the computer, application, driver, network, server or cloud, copier processing and print engine. Sleep state can add a further wait.
A4 / A3 — Paper Sizes
A4 is 210 × 297mm, the usual office page. A3 is 297 × 420mm, twice the area of A4, useful for plans, larger spreadsheets and folded A4 booklets with suitable finishing. If you never use A3, a smaller A4 device may suit a lighter workload, but check paper capacity, sustained use and any finishing attachments you may need later.
Booklet Maker — Folded, Stapled Booklets
A booklet maker folds sheets down the middle and staples along the fold to produce a finished booklet. With suitable paper and finishing, A3 sheets become an A4 booklet and A4 sheets become an A5 booklet. Useful for handbooks, programmes and training guides. It is a separate finishing requirement from corner stapling: the 400AC does not offer an inline booklet maker, so choose a compatible finishing platform if this is a regular or likely future need.
Hole Punch — Pages Ready for Binders
A compatible hole-punch option makes holes in printed sheets so packs are ready for folders or ring binders, saving staff from punching each batch by hand. Check the hole pattern, supported paper sizes and weights, and the required finisher combination. If you regularly prepare binder packs—or expect to later—choose a machine that accepts the necessary attachment. The 400AC does not offer an automatic inline hole-punch option.
Corner Staple — Keep Each Set Together
Corner stapling puts a staple near the corner of each printed set, keeping meeting papers, reports and teaching packs together. It can save time when you repeatedly produce multiple sets; for an occasional short document, a separate stapler may be sufficient. Check the compatible finisher’s sheet limit and staple positions. Corner stapling does not fold pages or make a booklet. The 400AC’s optional offline stapler requires staff to handle the pages; it does not automatically staple the print run.

Specifications in real life

What the 400AC Figures Mean in Your Office

These capabilities help assess whether an existing or available rental 400AC still covers your work. They do not describe the newer replacement model.

40ppmA4 colour and mono

Useful when: Shared reports, forms and document sets create recurring A4 print demand.

What to check: 100 A4 pages represent 2 minutes 30 seconds of engine time. Processing, the first page, media and duplex settings add to the full job.

100 sheetsStandard single-pass feeder

Useful when: Staff regularly capture double-sided originals in batches.

What to check: Capacity counts sheets; scan speeds count sides. Other A4 machines also include single-pass feeders, so compare finished-file time and supplied cost.

80 / 116ipmColour / mono duplex scan

Useful when: You want to match scan settings to colour documents or monochrome records.

What to check: These figures are at 300dpi. 116ipm is not a colour rating. At higher colour resolution, the published scan speed is lower.

650 sheetsStandard paper input

Useful when: A full-ream main drawer plus a separate bypass suits everyday office use.

What to check: The total is 550 sheets in the cassette plus 100 in the bypass. Optional maximum capacity is 3,200 sheets.

256gsmCassette and duplex maximum

Useful when: Approved heavier stock is used for double-sided covers or other suitable documents.

What to check: Check paper sizes, types and settings. Banner media has a separate 90–163gsm range; this is not 300gsm support.

520 × 540mmBase width × depth

Useful when: You want A4 functions in a smaller footprint than an expandable A3 configuration.

What to check: The base is around 53kg and 634mm high. Extra drawers, a stand, doors and working access need additional space; assess the actual supporting surface.

Match the support to the working day

Where Keeping or Renting a 400AC Can Still Be Useful

Shared A4 queues

Keep useful batch output where A3 is unnecessary

The 400AC’s 40ppm A4 engine can suit recurring reports and office document sets. Assess peak queues and actual job sizes. If everyone prints only a few pages at a time, condition, first-page response and reliable setup may matter more than the headline speed.

Rental configuration

Check what is installed before comparing prices

The desktop image does not show extra drawers or a stand. Ask for a rental proposal naming condition, paper options, software, delivery, service and the intended period. A maximum-capacity specification is not a description of every available machine.

Paper reloading

A full ream fits in the main drawer

The 550-sheet main cassette offers more ordinary-paper capacity than the 250-sheet drawer in some comparable A4 configurations. A separate 100-sheet bypass keeps occasional stock away from the everyday supply. Confirm the stock and size limits.

Feeding faults

Identify the paper path that needs attention

A drawer feed fault and a scan-feeder fault involve different paths. Tell us which tray or function is affected, the paper used, the jam location and whether duplex is involved. This helps direct a repair assessment; the SSD in a newer model does not itself prevent paper jams.

Scanning demand

A faster print engine does not mean faster scans

The 100-sheet single-pass feeder rates up to 80ipm colour or 116ipm mono at 300dpi. Those figures match the slower 33ppm family model. For scan-led work, compare finished-file time, OCR, originals and destination setup separately from print speed.

Searchable records

Check whether the existing OCR option is installed

OCR is optional on the 400AC. If staff need to find words inside scanned invoices or case files, check the installed licence and supported formats. The newer 401AC includes embedded OCR, which is a useful workflow reason to compare replacement.

Heavier duplex work

Check the supported stock in both directions

Approved paper up to 256gsm can use the main cassette and automatic duplex path within supported sizes. Some comparable A4 configurations stop at a lower duplex weight. Test the actual stock; neither this rating nor a newer SSD guarantees trouble-free feeding.

Output handling

Loose sheets still need collecting and finishing

The standard output tray holds 250 sheets under stated conditions. Someone still collects and assembles the document. The optional offline stapler requires manual handling; automatic stapled sets, booklets and punched packs need a different compatible platform.

Space and access

The desktop footprint is only the starting point

The base unit is 520 × 540 × 634mm and approximately 53kg. Allow for the supporting surface, open trays, door access, selected stand or drawers and servicing space. Keeping an existing suitable installation may be useful if the machine remains economical to support.

Repair or replace

Compare the next few years of work

Consider the fault, expected repair, condition, recurring interruptions and software requirements. A maintained 400AC may remain useful; repeated wear-related problems or a need for current workflows can favour the 401AC. Confirm current parts, service and driver availability.

Match the functions to the work

The 400AC Is a Good Fit When...

It makes sense if you...

  • Mainly use A4 and do not need A3 print or copy output
  • Share recurring A4 colour and mono reports or document sets
  • Want standard single-pass capture of double-sided originals
  • Can specify an OCR option if searchable scanned files are needed
  • Value a 550-sheet main drawer and a separate bypass
  • Can use a separate or offline stapler for occasional documents
  • Can match the supplied equipment and service to expected use

We would look at something else if you...

  • Need A3 sheets for printing, copying or scanning
  • Regularly need automatically stapled sets or folded booklets
  • Prepare punched binder packs and want inline punching
  • Expect 300gsm stock support
  • Need more scan capacity than a 100-sheet feeder will hold
  • Have repeated long print queues that justify a different configuration
  • Cannot provide suitable support, access or space for the installed equipment

Support for an earlier model

400AC Rental, Servicing & Repair Across the UK

The 400AC is superseded. Our priority is useful rental advice and support for existing machines, with a clear route to the newer model when replacement makes sense.

Rental

Check suitable 400AC rental equipment

Tell us your location, rental period, A4 workload and scanning needs. We will check suitable stock and explain condition, delivery, collection, service inclusions and the applicable terms. An alternative model may suit you better if no appropriate 400AC is available.

Servicing

Look after the machine you already use

Discuss ongoing maintenance or a service assessment for your existing 400AC. Provide its meter reading and service history where available. We confirm the support offered for your postcode, equipment condition and expected use.

Repair

Describe the fault before deciding to replace

Send the fault code, symptoms, affected paper path and whether the issue occurs when printing, copying or scanning. We assess the next step, relevant parts availability and likely repair scope before you agree the work. No attendance time or successful repair is assumed.

New equipment

Compare the newer 401AC

For a new purchase or lease, start with the Toshiba e-STUDIO 401AC. It retains 40ppm A4 output and adds secure SSD storage and embedded OCR. Any purchase or lease of an older 400AC remains subject to actual stock, supplied condition and agreed terms.

Make the proposal specific

Before Renting or Keeping a Toshiba 400AC

Confirm the supplied configuration and use your own documents to check the useful benefits.

Do you need A3 now or later?

The 400AC is an A4 platform. Confirm the largest originals and printed pages, including plans, spreadsheets and folded A4 booklets. Banner support is a different format, not A3 capability.

What happens after printing?

Separate occasional hand stapling from automatically stapled sets, folded booklets and hole punching. This model lists an offline stapler; it does not offer those inline finishing systems.

How do your own originals scan?

Test double-sided documents through the standard 100-sheet DSDF. Compare colour and mono rates at matching settings and include OCR, file creation and upload time.

Does the installed software still fit your workflow?

OCR is optional on this model. Check the installed licence, searchable-file formats, network permissions and email authentication. For a current workflow or operating-system requirement, compare verified support for the 401AC before deciding.

What paper should remain loaded?

The standard drawer holds 550 sheets and the bypass 100. Add drawers or a large-capacity feeder only when they solve actual loading or stock-change tasks. Confirm supported sizes.

Are heavier stocks suitable for the whole path?

Cassette and automatic duplex support 60–256gsm; the bypass supports 60–256gsm for continuous feeding; 52–59gsm uses single-sheet feeding. Banner paper has separate limits. Test the actual stock and do not assume 300gsm support.

What does repair or continued use cost?

Compare the proposed repair, likely future maintenance and downtime with an appropriate replacement or rental proposal. Ask about condition, warranty, service inclusions, CPC rates where applicable, exclusions and the total payable.

Will the installation and workload suit the machine?

Allow for the supporting surface or stand, delivery route, optional drawers, loading and working access. Agree normal monthly use, peak jobs, service coverage and inclusions. Do not infer duty capacity from A4 size or the 40ppm rating alone.

Quality used machines on rental

Hundreds of Quality Used Machines Available to Rent

If your 400AC no longer suits the work, a rental can give you a different paper format, more capacity or suitable finishing. Camelott® has hundreds of quality used photocopiers available to rent, including Toshiba e-STUDIO 15 and 05 series machines, Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C879R options and separate 60ppm Epson options. We will confirm the exact model, condition, accessories and availability in your proposal.

If you now need A3 documents or finished packs, ask us to match a rental to those jobs. Stapling, booklet-making and hole punching depend on the machine and installed finisher; they are not included on every option. For longer print runs, a suitable 60ppm machine may shorten waiting time, while a slower model may be sufficient for shorter jobs. The WF-C879R is a separate choice, not a 60ppm model.

Tell us how many reports or sets you print, whether you need A3, how you scan documents, your postcode and the rental period. We will explain the equipment and UK-wide service arrangements, including what is covered, before you choose.

Questions worth asking

Toshiba 400AC Rental, Repair & Replacement FAQ

Has the Toshiba 400AC been replaced?

Yes. The e-STUDIO 401AC replaces the 400AC. The 400AC remains relevant for existing owners, repair assessments and suitable rental stock. Superseded does not by itself mean unsupported or unrepairable.

Can I rent a Toshiba e-STUDIO 400AC?

Ask Camelott® about available rental equipment. Tell us the intended period, postcode, workload and scanning requirements so we can confirm stock, supplied condition, service inclusions and terms.

Do you provide UK-wide 400AC service and repair?

Camelott® offers UK-wide photocopier servicing and repair enquiries. Provide your postcode, machine details, meter reading and fault information so we can confirm the support available, parts position, charges and attendance arrangements.

Should I repair my 400AC or replace it?

Compare the fault, meter reading, service history, likely repair cost and frequency of interruptions with your future needs. A suitable repair may be sensible for a machine that still covers the work. Repeated wear-related faults or compatibility requirements can strengthen the case for replacement.

What changed on the newer 401AC?

The 401AC uses a standard 256GB secure SSD instead of the 400AC’s 320GB self-encrypting HDD, and includes embedded OCR where OCR is optional on the 400AC. Both retain 40ppm A4 output, a standard 100-sheet single-pass feeder and 650-sheet standard paper input.

Will the SSD make it print more pages per minute?

No. Both models are rated at up to 40ppm A4. Faster storage access can help tasks involving stored data, but actual job performance also depends on processing, settings and network conditions.

Is an SSD automatically more secure?

No. The 400AC already has an encrypted hard drive. Security depends on the actual encryption, authentication, firmware, configuration and data-disposal process. The absence of moving parts is a storage design benefit, not proof of stronger encryption.

Will a new machine have fewer jams and breakdowns?

A new machine starts with unworn feed and transport components, which can help compared with a worn, heavily used unit. Reliability still depends on paper, loading, maintenance and workload. There is no guaranteed jam or breakdown reduction simply because the model is newer.

Will the newer model have longer driver support?

A current model will generally have a longer remaining support horizon, but no fixed period is promised here. Confirm the manufacturer’s current driver and firmware availability and compatibility with your operating systems, applications and email setup.

Is the 400AC single-pass feeder included?

Yes. The 400AC has a standard 100-sheet DSDF. At 300dpi, duplex scanning is rated up to 80ipm colour or 116ipm mono. These figures count scanned sides, not sheets; OCR, processing and upload affect the finished file.

Does the 400AC include OCR?

OCR is optional on the 400AC. Confirm whether the installed machine has the required licence and supported searchable-file formats. The newer 401AC includes embedded OCR; advanced workflow requirements still need checking.

Can it print, copy or scan A3?

No. This is an A4 platform. Supported narrow banner output is a different format from A3. If larger originals or output are needed, discuss a suitable A3 device.

Can it make booklets, punch holes or automatically staple sets?

The listed MJ-1047 is an optional offline stapler requiring manual handling. The 400AC does not list inline booklet making or automatic hole punching. For those functions, choose a compatible finishing platform. The newer 401AC is also an A4 platform with similar finishing limits.

How much paper does it hold?

Standard input is 650 sheets: a 550-sheet main cassette plus a 100-sheet bypass. A maximum of 3,200 sheets requires compatible optional feeding equipment. Confirm the accessories actually installed on a rental or used machine.

Can I still buy or lease a 400AC?

Any older-model purchase or lease depends on actual stock, condition and an appropriate agreement. For new equipment, compare the newer Toshiba 401AC first. We can explain available equipment and support options without assuming new 400AC stock.

What information helps with a repair enquiry?

Include the fault code, symptoms, postcode, meter reading and which functions are affected. For feeding problems, describe the tray, paper size and stock, and whether the issue happens on single-sided, double-sided or scan-feeder jobs.
